Process of selecting rubber seedling – What is a suitable rubber seedling?

In my previous article I mentioned the first issue in selecting rubber seedlings. The seedling in general is still the most difficult problem in agriculture. Especially for rubber trees and perennial industrial trees.

A simple example: It takes 3 months to grow rice and if you choose the wrong seedling you will only take 3 months to invest. But what about rubber trees? 6 years of basic construction, mining cycle of 20 years! Spread over 30 years. You’ve probably figured out how important the problem is, right?

But you do not need to worry too much. I will give you the most prestigious address on rubber varieties for you.

Go back to the story of choosing the right breed. Appropriate rubber varieties have been issued in the rubber tree structure at each stage. The latest is the structure of the 2016-2020 period (you can easily find it on the same page). Here are four important factors that a good rubber seed should have.
1. Basic construction time
This is a time investment and not a profit from the orchard. The shorter the time, the better the garden, the sooner it is put into the exploitation cycle, the faster the return of capital, profit. KTCB time is determined by the leading factor is the breed and the technique of care.

Where the same factor is most important. You can not ask for an inexpensive unsuitable breed to have a short KTCB duration with the same level of care as good and appropriate breeds. And this time is usually 5 to 6 years for the appropriate rubber varieties. Like RRIV 209, RRIV 106 in the Southeast, or RRIV 103 in the Central Highlands.

2. Productivity of latex
This is the most important factor that you need when planting rubber. It determines many things from the profit, the investment to care for the orchard.

And this is completely achievable if you follow the recommended rubber varieties.

Choosing the right variety, matching the seed structure will ensure the productivity of your orchard. Beyond the decisive factor to the output of latex. Other factors such as caring techniques, tapping techniques, using latex stimulants all affect the productivity of the rubber plantations.

3. Disease
This is also a factor to consider when choosing rubber varieties. Currently, diseases in the rubber tree, especially leaf diseases such as white powdery mildew, corynespora disease or pink fungus disease, shaving on the surface are quite common.

Good resistance to disease not only helps to save the cost of care, but also contribute to reducing the time of KTCB. As well as latex yield during the extraction of the orchard.

Of course, the rubber varieties highly recommended in the seed structure are not completely resistant. But these are less susceptible to disease or, in other words, disease resistance.

4. Timber volume at the end of the cycle
This is the “emerging” factor today. Especially, when the price of latex is low, rubber wood is attractive and has good price. You can see through the price of rubber wood has increased continuously in recent years.

The good news is that the varieties of rubber in the seed structure are very good in terms of wood reserves. In particular, nowadays rubber varieties for timber are available. Promising a new direction for the rubber industry today.
